Newsletter, December 2025

Greetings to all the good hearts who wish for the well-being of the Nazareth Illam, Home for the Mentally Ill, Thalavadi!

December is one of the months with good weather in India. It brings a variety of traditions and reflections, religious holidays, opportunities for positive changes and important national & global events. Among these events, I want to emphasize and share with you the celebration of the International Day of Persons with disabilities.

The International Day of Persons with disabilities is observed on 3rd December annually. Its history dates back to 1992 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution 47/3. The day targets to raise the awareness of the issues that are faced by persons with disabilities and to advocate for their rights to dignity, well-being and equal opportunities. The theme for International Day of Persons with disabilities 2025 is “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”.

We keep working towards accompanying the residents of Nazareth Illam, Home for Mentally Ill, Thalavadi, with love & assure them the hope of recovering from their mental illness. We improve their quality of life, assure their dignity, peaceful environment, food, medicines, treatment, counseling, psychotherapy, training for personal hygiene & care, yoga, exercise, walking, play therapy, music therapy, vocational training (wire basket weaving, tailoring, foot mat weaving, training to produce areca plates, horticulture, vermicompost preparation training, training to raise cow, pig & hen.
